09/15/09 – The artistic talents of local Six Nations Grade School students have manage to shone bright enough to garner 2 First Place finishes and 4 Honourable Mentions in the National Fire Protection Poster Contest.
As mentioned in a previous update, Six Nations Fire Chief Michael Seth brought the initial stage winners to a General Council meeting on June 2nd. At that time they received Six Nations Fire Department certificates. He indicated that all the winners were going to the National Contest.
At the National Level, Shauntay Longboat and Cassandra Bomberry took home first place finishes, with Connor Martin, Seneca Hill, Dylan Miller, Dallas Silversmith receiving Honourable Mentions. For their efforts, each student received well earned cheques, Certificates from Six Nations Council, and letters from Minister of Indian Affairs Chuck Strahl.
