Six Nations Housing
Shelter is fundamental to individual and family well-being.

The mandate of Six Nations Housing is to improve the living conditions of all members of the community by providing the ways and means to access housing and housing related essentials, through various financing programs, rental accommodations and construction advisory services on Six Nations of the Grand River.

AVAILABLE PROGRAMS HOUSING LOAN PROGRAM
Six Nations Housing developed this specific loan process for the purpose of assisting Six Nations members in obtaining housing loans for new or renovation/repair construction purposes ON RESERVE. The maximum loan amount currently available is up to $200,000.00.

APPROVED LENDER LOAN (BANK) PROGRAM
This loan program is set up to provide Six Nations members with the option of obtaining a loan for an on reserve home, from a financial institution (bank). Two lenders, who have local branches in the community, the Royal Bank and the Bank of Montreal, deliver this loan program. If an applicant is eligible, Six Nations Elected Council will provide a guarantee to the lender for repayment on behalf of the applicant.

ACCESSIBILITY PROGRAM
This program provides loans for seniors and/or physically disabled Six Nations members. This is an effort to help provide assistance in the improvement and provision of suitable accommodation by the way of new construction or repairs.

RESIDENTIAL REHABILITATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (RRAP)
This is a Federally funded program through Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). Six Nations Housing is the liaison for the purpose of delivering the program to our community. The program addresses mandatory repairs for structurally damaged homes and for health and safety reasons. The intent of the program is to extend the life of the home for an additional 15 year period. (NOT TO MODERNIZE A HOME)

HOUSING INSPECTIONS
Six Nations Housing developed this service for the use of all community members. These inspections can be conducted for new house construction, repairs, additions, or to inspect an existing house prior to its purchase. If the house is being funded through Six Nations Housing, compliance inspections are mandatory.

RENTAL PROPERTIES
We currently have 107 regular rental properties that range from 1 to 3 bedroom units. We also have 4 locations dedicated to Elders only consisting of 69 - 1 bedroom units & 25 - 2 bedroom units.

COMMERCIAL PROPERTIES
Six Nations Housing administers a portfolio of commercial buildings that have been developed to provide suitable infrastructure for Council projects, community services and private enterprise.

HOME OWNERSHIP PROGRAM
Six Nations Elected Council in conjunction with C.M.H.C. built 116 homes through this program. Currently no applications are being accepted for this program. The program is on hold until further notice.

SANITATION INCENTIVE PROGRAM
Six Nations Housing utilizes this specific program for the purpose of assisting Six Nations members in obtaining safe and environmentally friendly septic systems, cisterns and wells. Under this program the Housing office may provide loans or grants to members who own and reside in their home. The program is limited to approved funding.
