Council Update (L-R) Brant County Mayor Ron Eddy, Brantford Mayor Chris Friel, Elected Chief William K. Montour Territory, City and County leaders mingle 12/10/10 – Chief William Montour came up with the idea that his Six Nations Council members and directors should meet and mingle with their counterparts from the City of Brantford and Brant County. The intention was to begin building relationships at the political and administrative levels. Standing in front of the crowd in Brantford’s Mohawk Park Pavilion, Chief Montour spoke about looking at the realm of possibilities. “I think that’s what politics is about – is dreaming…what can happen…what can we do together,” he added. “Together we are a force to be reckoned with.” Chief Montour continued, saying, “Have a good time tonight because I guarantee you, we’re going to have a busy, busy term.” Brant County Mayor Ron Eddy endorsed the idea of the three communities working and progressing together. Brantford Mayor Chris Friel described the evening as a beginning of growing and progressing together. People in the communities have expressed their desire to have conflicts come to an end, he said. While their shared history was not always great, that was about to change, he indicated. “We are going to do something different in the next number of years that’s going to be historical,” stated Mayor Friel who hoped that would continue for generations to come.
