Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program (RRAP)
|
|
|
|
|
|
This program is offered through the Canada
Mortgage and Housing Corporation
(CMHC). Six Nations Housing acts as an
agent for the purpose of delivering the
program to our community.
The program offers repairs for structurally
damaged homes, and for health and safety
reasons to extend the life of the home for a
additional 15 year period. (NOT TO
MODERNIZE A HOME)
The Housing Inspector will make an initial
visit to the home to assess the repairs
requested by the homeowner to determine
they are eligible for assistance. During this
visit the Housing Inspector will list all areas
that require attention. The Inspector will
then complete an inspection report detailing
the "mandatory" repairs only.
The homeowner then has ONE month to
submit all written estimates for the
"mandatory" repairs. These estimates
should all be within 10% of the Inspectors
estimated cost of repair.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
This program is only offered to
applicants whose homes are five or
more years old and are owned and
occupied by the applicant.
RENTAL PROPERTIES ARE NOT
ELIGIBLE.
Households with an adjusted family
income of $42,500.00 or LESS, may
be eligible for up to $16,000.00
Grant (non-repayable) provided they agree to reside in the home for
a period of five years or more after the
repairs are made. If the household income is
greater than $42,500.00 the applicant is not
eligible.
If an applicant requires repairs to address a
specific disability, they may qualify for an
additional grant of up to $16,000.00.
A second application will be considered
during the 15 year period for emergency
repairs only. The individual will qualify for
only the difference between $16,000.00 and
the amount originally obtained.
HOW DO I APPLY?
If the applicant feels they are qualified for
this program, they should contact the
Housing Office to apply. Once their name
reaches the top of the waiting list, they will
be contacted to arrange an inspection.
Once the inspection is complete, and the
repairs are substantiated by the Housing
Inspector the applicant will receive an
inspection report detailing the required
repairs.
The applicant will utilize the inspection
report to obtain quotes from the contractors
of THEIR choice. These quotes are to be
submitted to the Housing Office to be
evaluated for approval. Once the quotes are
approved the file will be sent to Canada
Mortgage & Housing Corporation for
approval. Once approval received, purchase
orders will be issued to proceed with the
work.
All mandatory work MUST be completed.
If additional funds are needed to complete
the MANDATORY repairs, the applicant
may apply for a supplimental RRAP loan.
