Six Nations Remembers Their Sacrifice and Courage
|
|
10/16/10 – A cold, rain-soaked day was no deterrent to families who came to lay wreaths. They came to honour those who paid the supreme sacrifice on their tours of duty.
Family members carried wreaths and flower arrangements up to the Veterans Memorial Park cenotaph where a service was presented by the Six Nations Veterans Association. Then a parade of military service personnel made their way from the Six Nations Sports and Memorial Cultural Centre grounds to Veterans Park.
Speeches echoed thanks to each Veteran and to all current Military personnel for their continued efforts to ensure peace throughout the world.
The names of military conflicts – World War I, World War II, Korea, Pacific and Vietnam – were recited as flybys of four Harvards saluted those who served and those who lost their lives in these battles.
