07/29/09 – The issue of Safety and Security of residents of Six Nations of the Grand River brought a variety of opinions on how best to address these issues.
Panel attendance included representation from the Six Nations Police Service, Six Nations Fire Department and Emergency Planning, Health Services and Social Services. Each representative gave an account of what type of service they are mandated to carry out as it pertains to the Safety and Security of Six Nations.
Six Nations Health Services again reiterated the precautions for H1N1 virus as everyone in attendance was asked to use Hand Sanitizers made available from the front entrance.
Several opinions were heard on establishing community watch programs, and the pitfalls Six Nations youth are falling into with regards to drugs and crime.
Six Nations will continue discussion on this topic as further Safety and Security meetings will be scheduled in the future.
