Sanitation Incentive Program

The Six Nations Housing Department
utilizes this specific program for the
purpose of assisting Band Members in
obtaining safe and environmentally
friendly septic systems, holding tanks,
cisterns and wells.
Under this program the Housing Office
offers an incentive to Band Members
who own their home and property.
The incentive is a partial payment of
the applicants desired systems.
The installation process requires a site
layout of the property. An
investigation of the site can be carried
out by the Environmental Health
Officer, Health Canada, First Nations
and Inuit Branch at no cost to the
applicant or The applicant can engage
an Engineer or Consultant qualified
through education, training or
experience in this field with the
applicant being responsible for any and
all costs of services provided.
The Sanitation Incentive is offered
exclusively to home owners who
reside on their property, therefore
rental properties are not eligible for
this program.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Applicants are required to pay a fixed
portion of all costs involved with the
required systems.
The applicant must pay their portion
to the Housing Office prior to the
commencement of work.
HOW DO I APPLY?
Once an applicant has determined the
need for a septic bed/holding
tank/well/cistem they must visit the
Housing Office.
The applicant is required to fill out an application.
Additionally, the applicant must identify the system(s) that are
being requested.
The applicant is then required to provide proof of land title. A
site layout is then scheduled with either the Environmental
Health Officer or the applicants Engineer/Consultant.
If the applicant is accessing the program for a proposed home
the house location must be staked out before a layout can be
conducted.
Once the layout is completed, the applicant will be provided
with quote forms for each required job, to obtain prices.
Once the quotes are received at the Housing Office, the
applicant will choose the desired contractor of perform the
work.
Once the applicant pays their portion payable to the Housing
Office, work can commence.
The contractor chosen will be notified by the Housing Office
to commence work via a purchase order.
