Special Provision For Seniors And Physically Disabled This program provides a special allocation of interest free loans for our seniors and/or disabled people. This is an effort to help provide assistance in the improvement and provision of suitable accommodation by the way of new construction or repairs. The Housing Inspector will visit the household to determine the needs of the applicant. From this inspection the Inspector will prepare an inspection report detailing the requireed mandatory repairs/needs. Because all loan approvals are based on the mandatory need of the applicant, the Special Provision Program is on a "first come, first serve basis until the Special Provision Budget is committed. The Special Provision Program can assist with Emergency Access to a home similar to this house above IMPORTANT INFORMATION All applicants who are applying as a Senior shall be Sixty-five (65) years of age or over. A physically disabled applicant must supply supporting documentation pertaining to the PERMANENT medical/ physical condition that results in a disability that impedes mobility. EXAMPLES ARE: Such as, but not restricted to: - legally blind - wheel chair or walking aids - partial or complete paralysis - diseases that require an apparatus to function normally All disabled applicants must be receiving disability pension. HOW DO I APPLY? If an applicant feels they meet the requirements of the program, they should visit the Housing Office to discuss their eligibility. Once deemed eligible the applicant is required to fill out an application and return to the Housing Office along with a copy of income. Once application is returned, a date and time can be arranged for the Housing Inspector to conduct an inspection. The Housing Inspector will conduct the inspection and complete an inspection report identifying/substantiating the mandatory needs of the applicant. The applicant is then required to obtain 1 (one quote for the repairs) which will be acceptable provided the cost is within 10% of the inspector's estimate, if it is not another quote will be requested.
