Six Nations Joins Red Earth Cree Nation and Shoal Lake Cree Nation in Mourning Loss of Frank Young

On April 19, 2022, five-year-old Frank Young was last seen playing outside his home on Red Earth Cree Nation in Saskatchewan. After an extensive search, it was announced on Sunday that Frank’s body was found in the river near where he was last sighted.

Six Nations of the Grand River Elected Council sends their deepest condolences to Frank’s family, the entire Red Earth Cree Nation community, and to Shoal Lake Cree Nation on this tragic loss. We join with all communities across Turtle Island in mourning the loss of such a bright young soul who was taken from us far too soon.

“My heart is weighing heavy since we have learned of the loss of Frank Young,” said Elected Chief Mark Hill. “As First Nations people, our youth are more precious to us than anything. They are our future, and it is devastating when our little ones leave us before their futures can be fully realized. On behalf of Elected Council, I want to send my most sincere condolences to the Young family, Chief Fabian Head, Chief Marcel Head, and the entire communities of Red Earth Cree Nation and Shoal Lake Cree Nation on this unspeakable tragedy.”
