Parks and Recreation - Programs













Parks and Recreation sponsors community events and activities. Some examples are:

  • Easter Egg Hunt – Easter Weekend on Saturday

  • Bread & Cheese Parade, Sports Events & Carnival – Victoria Day in May

  • Tom Longboat Run (partner with S.N. Health Services) – June 21 – Volunteer meeting takes place 1 week prior to event. Participants register on day of event.

  • March Break Arts & Crafts Program – No Cost – Preference given to Low Income Families. Registration takes place in February. Sessions for ages 7 to 13.

  • Summer Sports Camp – Registration takes place beginning in June. 2008 cost is $30.00. Sessions for ages 7 to 13.

  • Basketeers and Small Ball Basketball program – Sessions from October to December and January to March. Registration takes place one month prior to start of program. Ages 5 to 13.

  • Children’s Spikes Volleyball program – October to December and January to March with registration taking place one month prior to start of program. Ages 9 to 12.

  • Various Sports Activities, e.g. Badminton, Basketball, Ladies Volleyball runs from October to March. $3.00 cost and all are on a drop in basis.

  • Soccer, T-Ball/Blast Ball, Slo-Pitch League takes place June and July with registration taking place in the month of May. $25.00 cost for t-ball and soccer. $250.00 per team for Slo-pitch league.

  • Coordinates Seniors to attend District & Ontario Senior Games. Senior Games registration runs for 2 weeks starting in early April.

  • Coaching Clinics

  • Let’s Be Active After School Program will have sessions for various ages from October to December and January to March. No Cost preference given to Low Income families. Sessions for Ages 5 to 12.

  • Girl’s Night Out After School Program will run from October to December. No Cost preference given to Low Income Families. Ages 11 to 13.

  • Red Cross Babysitter’s Course - Watch the newspapers for the next session.

  • Tournaments – Badminton – takes place in December with cost of $5.00, 3 on 3 Basketball and Mens Basketball takes place at various times. Watch newspapers for next tournament.
