Support Teams

Support Team Members work directly with children, parents, families, and/or alternative care giver to maximize support provided to the child in the child’s best interest.

Support Team Leaders supervise the Support Team members to ensure they are providing effective support and in a timely matter.

Commission

The Commission is responsible for overseeing the Director in the operations and delivery of the Child Protection Services. The commission consist of representatives from the community and Six Nations community services.

 

 

Administration ensures Ogwadeni:deo staff possess the supports required for efficient delivery of services and ensures  operations throughout the agency uphold the statutory requirements.

 

Management oversees and dictates the operations and services provided by all support teams and workers throughout the agency.

 My name is Carol Burke and I am the Interim Director at Ogwadeni:deo. My family roots are from Six Nations and my family name is Jamieson, Bear Clan and of the Cayuga Nation. I am considered an Urban Aboriginal as I have always lived in the city, I was born and raised in Brantford. Growing up, I had frequent visit to Six Nations to see family and friends and attended the Sour Springs Longhouse for ceremonies.

I went to Ryerson University to get my Bachelor Degree in Social Work and Laurier to get my Masters in Advance Aboriginal Social Work. I may have the paper required for this position but the people I meet are my greatest teachers, and I am humbled by their life knowledge.

I have had over ten year’s accumulative working in the field of Child Welfare, and many years in the past doing program and policy development for an Aboriginal organization in Toronto, working across the province. I am also a trained facilitator, counsellor and mediator.
