Six Nations Mourns the Passing of Former Elected Councillor Lillian Montour

On July 2, 2022, while surrounded by family, former Six Nations of the Grand River Elected Councillor Lillian Montour peacefully began her next journey. Lillian was a Councillor for District #4 under the Forty-Ninth Elected Council from January 1994 to December 1995.

Lillian was heavily involved in the Six Nations community throughout her life, having served as a member of the Six Nations Fair Board, Grand River Post-Secondary Education Committee, and the Six Nations Health Foundation. Additionally, Lillian was one of the founding members of and the first Librarian at the Six Nations Public Library, and then later the Head Librarian at the Woodland Cultural Centre.

Six Nations of the Grand River Elected Council would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Lillian Montour as they navigate this difficult time. Our thoughts, prayers, and good medicine are with her loved ones as we mourn and reflect on her tremendous contributions to Six Nations throughout her extraordinary life.

In lieu of flowers, Lillian’s family instead asks that donations be made to the Six Nations Health Foundation.
