For Immediate Release: January 16, 2026 – OHSWEKEN. ON – Six Nations of the Grand River (SNGR) remains under a State of Emergency as response and remediation efforts continue following the flooding that occurred on June 18, 2025.
Significant progress has been made in restoring impacted facilities. Of the fifteen buildings initially affected, only five remain under remediation.
Preparations are underway to relocate Iroquois Lodge residents to the Fox Ridge facility at 389 West Street, Brantford, with the move potentially scheduled for mid-February. SNGR is working with the City of Brantford to finalize a two-year lease for Fox Ridge and is in discussions with the Ministry of Long-Term Care to secure financial arrangements for ongoing Iroquois Lodge recovery efforts.

HDR, the contractor for the new Iroquois Lodge build, will present the selected building plan—chosen with input from Power of Attorneys and residents—at the General Council meeting on January 27, 2026.
Nia:wen kowa to the community for its patience, resilience, and continued support during this challenging time. Your cooperation and understanding have been vital to our progress, and together we are moving toward full recovery.
